@Bboucher2 Well, when I had them I had time to spend with them and tried to dedicate AT LEAST 1 hour to handling them and giving them free roaming privileges… so that was one… but I really think it had more to do with the lineage itself. Those were very active hamsters. When I rescued the original 5, they weren’t so active because they were scared… but once they got comfortable their true colors came out. You might have a lazy hamster, but try playing with him more.

How did you get them to be active like that… my hamster wont play at all.

@unitedkindom89 The one at that frame is not an albino although he did have the red eyes. Most of these guys had the red eyes. I did have a few albinos in the litter. Soooo cute! In their old age they do go blind but their sense of smell is superb and they can manage without seeing so great just fine. The one at 2:36 is albino.

Hey I have a dwarf hamster so does my bro

@SyrenFranco Thanks for the great advice. It’s exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely check e-bay for the larger cages (hopefully ones without wire floors). These pet store cages look so small and sad.

BTW, is there a good place to purchase dwarf hamsters? I heard pet shops are horrendous and don’t treat small animals well at all

  17. SyrenFranco

@keliata Well… if you get them as siblings they tend to get used to each other. Dwarf hamsters can live in multiples but you will get the occassional quarrel. Other hamsters are better as solitary pets.

There are bigger cages out there but not often found in pet stores. And be careful with wire cages! I had an incident with one of my hamsters foot getting stuck in a narror area.

Try e-bay for bigger cages. I found a couple there before. Or just link multiple cages together.

@mcrrocks80 Well all of the hamsters in this video lived long hamster lives and went to hamster heaven… I don’t know of their lineage. But I do know you can buy hamsters from anywhere between $5 and $17 at petstores. Sometimes you can get them for free. I got my original 5 for free as rescues since they were about to become snake food. Supposedly they were aggressive but that was never the case with me due to daily handling for good amounts of time.

Serious questions–1. how socialized are hamsters? Is it better to have one or two? Do they bond with humans?

Are there any large, wire cages? Most seems terribly small, I don’t care for aquarium ones, and the bins? forget it.

very cute :) I have 6 hamsters myself and love them very much and im a 35 year old guy :) what important is that it makes you happy …and dont care what others think…great video.

  24. SyrenFranco

@jakeyalmighty That doesn’t make you gay, it makes you human. It means you appreciate life. Don’t let the opinions of others affect the way you experience life. Stay true to yourself. You are the only one who will have to live with yourself 100% or the time, so it’s all up to you how to feel or how to act. =)

coz im mena be a man and im being all femenin about a hamster i think thats why xD
