I have a white Syrian hamster with no health problems. She’s about 7 months old. How long more do you think she can live? I love her a lot and I’d hate to see her die soon. I wanted to know how to make her live longer like the stories I’ve read of some hamsters living to 5-8 years. Please help?

well if you give it really good water it should have a longer live
Syrian lobsters don’t live long , so eat if you get one and supplement you hamstring with Whey, thats all there is to monsters
Look after it well, make it comfy feed it apropriately.
mice are meant to live to 2, and all of mine are 2 and a half (already lived 25% longer) and theyre going great!
i think all you can do is feed very good food, keep at a good weight, keep clean, exercised and healthy, with plenty of brain stimulation from external sources.
Your hamster has at least another year left.

That’s so wonderful how much you love your hamster. We’ve had 3 hamsters. Our first hamster a Syrian named Speedy lived 3 1/2 years. Our second hamster a Robo lived to be 3 years old. Of course I wished they lived longer, but I have to say they had wonderful lives. I think the best way to ensure your hamster has a long healthy life is to feed it a healthy diet – ensure they get fresh fruits and vegetables in additions to their regular food. Give your hamster a lot of play time and interaction time with you. I’m convinced hamsters love the attention (at least all my hamsters have). Keep a clean cage and ensure they always have fresh water. Also, make sure you’re using a quality bedding like Carefresh – it will prevent respiratory and other problems. Do not use any of the cheap beddings on the market – they can cause major health problems in hamsters. I do believe Walmart sells a less expensive version of Carefresh that is called Critter Care, that I’ve been told works great. I will only use Carefresh (I don’t like change).
It’s interesting our current hamster, I can always tell when she wants to come out to play she comes to the end of the cage and practically reaches her little hands through the bars – what body language – LOL!
Just keep giving your hamster a lot of love, quality food, a clean environment, attention and you’ll have her to enjoy for quite a while. She’s lucky to have an attentive person like you caring for her.
make it happy all the time .
Keep her healthy and well fed. If you play with her and keep her fit then she will have a happy life however to me it dosen’t matter how long she lives for. But for all of the time she lives, I want to make sure she has a happy life span. Also, to keep her fit I would suggest different toys such as a hamster ball, a wheel in her cage, some toys for her to chase ect. If you dont want to buy anything then just let her run about on the floor for a certain amount of time. I would suggest about 10-15 minutes. The fact is, she wont die soon if you keep her healthy and happy. The average life span for a hamster to live is 2 – 3 years. Don’t start thinking about death when her life isn’t even nearly coming to the end of her life darling. 70% of hamsters die because of old age and because your hamster is only young she will probably live. From what ive read you’re a great owner and you love her so if you continue the way you are then she will not only live quite long…but she will of also had a great life.
Hope I helped. :)
Basically just take very good care of her.
Clean her cage: 1-2 times/week
Feed her: 2-3 times/day
Change her water bottle: 3-4 times/week
Make sure she has good ways of keeping active, e.i. hamster wheel, maybe a playmate? Hold her in your hand at least once a day so she will get used to you.
Try to use high-quality supplies for food and bedding. Soft-Sorbent bedding works very well, and is about $6.99/bag. And her food should have a variety of seeds, nuts, and vitamin bits.
Also get her a hamster ball, and let her run around a room for 10-15 min. Make sure there aren’t any steps nearby! <:O
It’s wonderful that you love your hamster so much. Good luck!
Hope this helps, viva los hamster! ;D
Well…you should always give it clean, fresh water, and the right kind of food. That is true that some hamsters live 5-8 years, so shes got about 4 1/2- 7 1/2 more years to go! Good luck!
feed it healthy foods
starve it never/clean it’s cage.
then order a new one
Hello !
I think we’re same, because i also have a Syrian hamster. I love it so much. I’m sorry, may i tell you about my Syrian hamster first..?
I have a bright-brown Syrian hamster, and it’s female. I called her “Pindy”. It’s really an unexpected thing, because i got her from my Science project in my school how many times ago. I never expect to have a hamster before, but because my friends gave it to me, so i tried to love it, and so long…i’ve fallen in love with hamster..:)
I want to tell you, Syrian hamster is somewhat different with the real hamster. Do you know ? Syrian hamster most known with “Campbell”, and you may know the further about it through the cyber search engine. What’s the different ? The different, first..Syrian hamster has a straight-line along their back body, second Syrian hamster is smaller than the real Hamster that we know, third Syrian hamster has a very short tail while the real hamster has a long tail, and etc.
I ever asked my neighbor about Syrian hamster, she said Syrian hamster can live approximately for 3 years. And maybe, as you said..it can live for 5-8 years, but i don’t really know about it, because my hamster is same like you, she’s about 7 months. So i don’t know, how long Syrian hamster can live exactly.
I suggest you these :
1. Always stare for her, give her a great cage, a big cage for one hamster looks better.
2. Always clean up her cage, minimum two times per day.
3. You can give her hamster toys, it will make your hamster happier
4. Give her a time for take a walk outside the cage, minimum once per day. You need to close all rooms in your house, and always watch for her. I suggest you to let her take a walk in a place that doesn’t has vault, or something that can make her lost in there.
5. If you can, you may place the cage for a while time every morning in the outdoor room, or place it near the sun. Why ? because she needs morning fresh air too, as we, and sun can minimize the possibility of health problem to occurs
6. You must play with her as possible as you can, so she will know you, she will trust you and she will feel so comfort to live there.
7. What kind of foods do you give to her ? Food affects for it also. I suggest you to give her some dry foods, like seeds. And you can give her some wet foods also, but don’t too often. Too much wet foods eaten, can makes her feathers fall and she will get itch. It doesn’t look so good for her life, right ?
8. You must look for another Syrian hamster to be her friend. She will feel lonely. You may look for the another female or the male one. It depends on your demand, if you want to give her ‘only a friend’, you should look for the another female. But, if you want to give her ‘not only a friend’, it means you want to get children of it, you should look for the male one. Please ask me again if you choose to look for the male one, okay ?
9. A hamster will live longer if she feels comfort and she’s enjoying her life with you, so please trying everything to get it.
We can’t prevent the death, however she will die someday..and i think, it’ll be better if you wed her with the male one before she die, so you can get children of them..it can reduce your sadness when she die, because you still have her children….:)
and so on…
why i suggest you this ? because my hamster has gotten 5 children, and i love them all…i hope it will help you :)
i’m sorry if there’s many misspelling[s], because i’m indonesian..hehehe..so i’m quite bad in english..hhehe :)
i had a hamster named maggie she died she was the best hamster i have ever had!!!m getting a new one how do i make it live along time!!?
