How do I get my hamster to not poop in the food bowl?

My hamster has a toilet with hamster litter in it too! 80% of the time, he poops in it but I must constantly feed him because if I don’t he will poop in the bowl where I place his food. Is it just his way of telling me he’s hungry because enough as it is I already feed him way too much.

Put up a sign that says “no pooping where the vittles are.” Guaranteed to work…

    Buy him different food?

Sometimes they eat their poo to get all the nutrients that they didn’t get from the first go around again.

It’s a survival thing that they do. Don’t worry about it but, if it does bother you…just hand feed him. That way he can’t poo in it.

You don’t need to keep it’s food in a bowl.
