How to take care of my Chinese hamsters ?
A few days ago i got a pair of Chinese Hamsters. They are young. They sleep all day long and remain active throughout the night. Their exercise wheel makes noise and disturbs everyone’s sleep when they run in it. And they become restless when i take it away. How to make them sleep during night hours ?

Hamster are nocturnal,they can be awake and active sometimes during the day,but not normally, and unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about that. Never take a wheel away from your hamster, they need this to burn off their huge amounts of energy. Try buying a silent wheel, these should be available in most pet stores. You could also try moving the cage to a place where they can not be heard, but make sure is is well ventilated. hope this helps!
P.S.Most wheels that come with cages do make some noise, even is they are supposedly silent. Ones that I have or have tried that are good is the critter trail expansion pack 3, it is a wheel that you put on the outside of your habitral, crittertrail or S.A.M cage.If you don’t have those cages,they sell separate silent spinner (for sure) at Petsmart. You can also put vegetable oil on the axel of the wheel, it will not harm your hamster. If nothing works, you will get use to the noise, humans can adapt very wll, you will be use to it in about a week. Hope this helped!!!=)

Yes, hamsters can be Chinese, but they are called Chinese Dwarf hamsters. They have a strip of black fur running down their back and gray fur that covers the rest of their back and white on their belly.
Well hamsters are nocturnal. That means they sleep all day and play all night. All hamster wheels make a noise, if it squeaks, then take VEGETABLE oil and put a little bit of that on the hinges of the wheel. The hamsters might lick at it but dont worry, they cant lick it off. Your wheel should run smoothly for a week or so. If its just the clanking noise of the wheel hitting the cage, just make sure you postition the wheel in a place where its not bumping on anything. Unfortantly, there is no way to get rid of the rolling sound, thats just how it is. I suggest putting the hamsters in the living room where it wont disturb the family. But honestly, you get used to the sound. When you start to have your hamsters for months and months you barely notice it and you sleep like a baby. When my hamsters died, I missed the sound of the wheel, ALOT. Good luck =)
they are nocturnal.. you can change that.. but if you close the blinds and turn off the lights they might rouse… put veggie oil on the axel of the wheel to make it quiet.
