Well yes, aquariums too. In fact my cage was more of an aquarium. It was an aquarium then had barred bit at the top to open it, they liked swinging on the bars, lol.
not really maybe yours likes barred cages better.
aquariums work fine but you have to keep them in good condition

Yes, all the syrians I have ever had have preferred barred cages. For our first hamster we got a cage with tubes, NOT RECOMENDED! Takes ages to clean, and the hamster gets stuck in the tubes. Tubes on cages are great for dwarf hamsters, not so great for sryians.

I remember putting my old hamster in one of those balls and I picked it up an hour later and the lid had come off and the hamster went missing for ages, eventually i saw him making a break for the kitchen and got him. After that we rarely used the ball

For a Syrian the best is a wire cage because they are usually multi level, and they like to climb the bars too, tanks are more for dwarfs

Hamsters ARE nocturnal, syrians and most other hamsters like to burrow, they sleep during the day, and only wake up for food or water.
no hamster arnt nocturnal the awake duiring dusk and dawn theirs a fancy name 4 it but i cant remember wat it is??!! lol
