The cage is easy to clean. That’s the only positive thing I can say about it. Our hamster likes to put food in the wheel and we hear this horrendous rattling as he exercises all night long!

We bought this cage as an addition/expansion to the 3 story crittertrail “mansion” that we already owned. It wasn’t but 2 weeks and my 10 year old daughter broke the clip on the front trying to open the door to get her hamster out. The doors and clips on these cages seem to break readily because the plastic clips are quite brittle and need to be adjusted just right otherwise they are too hard to open or release too easily to allow the hamster to escape. Tape on the clear plastic seems to be the standard remedy that all owners seem to need to resort to. Crittertrail needs to improve their clip and hinge design to make their cages more durable. This unit is very easy to clean but easy to break.

I love this cage! It’s very roomy and has 3 levels for your hammie to explore. My hamster just loves poking his head into every nook and cranny, even the little capsule that blocks off the opening for adding expansion tubes. It’s very easy to put together and disassemble for washing. One thing though, as I was opening the big door to start building this, the blue plastic below just broke in half..and I was NOT forcing it. It’s nothing some super glue won’t be able to fix though. The wheel is very nice and quiet and overall this was a good purchase! I’m planning on connecting it with the Crittertrail X to give my hammies even more room. I have 2 roborovskiis. I have the small igloo and it fit nicely on the second floor.

This is the first hamster cage that we’ve ever had, and it’s awesome. Our hamster LOVES the wheel and the different levels. It comes with a food dish and a water bottle, and is super easy to clean, even for my 7-year-old. The best part is the top level, because it actually separates from the rest of the cage and acts as a travel carrier.
There were a couple of problems, however. This cage had to be shipped to us three times because it was packaged poorly and broke during shipment. But I think they fixed the problem. Also, BE CAREFUL with the water bottle. I broke it by twisting the cap off, but apparently it’s not meant to twist off.
Aside from the initial issues, this cage is great. And well worth the sale price of $27!

I’ll echo most of the sentiments already posted here. The cage, the wheel, the set up is all very nice and our new hamster really seems to be enjoying his colorful new home.
But I’m about to go crazy because of the water bottle. I’ve returned TWO of them already — each one leaks out completely overnight.
The bedding is always drenched and no matter what I do, I can’t get the bottle to stop leaking. I’m finally going to just buy a new bottle (different brand) and hope for the best.
I know you have to fill the bottle fully. I know you have to “set” the ball bearings. And for a moment, it does seem to work — but sure enough, any movement in the cage or if the hamster takes a drink, anything — and the bottle just drips relentlessly.
Keep that in mind when you buy this.

Crittel Trail X, nice cage. Very difficult to clean, PIA, very easy to brake, impossible to repair, no spares outside USA. Hamster loves it. I hate it.
Standard accesoires don’t fit. Hamster will shit out of the wheel all over your floor. Std waterbottle is useless. Jail vars just to small apart for decent other things. Hamster easily can break out different ways Even a small one.
I recommend making something from the DIY shop.
